Meetup Sunset Paddle Event

Kayaking and Paddleboarding Adventure Meetup on Mountain Island Lake!   

Hello adventure seekers!  Join us for an exciting evening of kayaking and paddleboarding on the tranquil waters of Mountain Island Lake. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, this event promises a fun-filled experience for all water sports enthusiasts. Don't worry if you don't have your own equipment - we've got you covered!  

Date: Saturday, August 12, 2023 [Rain date will be August 19th] 

Time: 6 pm - 8:30 pm, Check-in opens at 5:30 pm 

Location: Latta Nature Preserve - Gar Creek Kayak Launch, Huntersville, NC  

Activities: 

- Kayaking 

- Standup Paddleboarding  

Pricing: - Renting Equipment: $25 for a single kayak or paddleboard. $35 for tandem (2-person) kayak (Includes kayak or paddleboard, paddle, and life jacket) - Bringing Your Own Equipment: FREE [please RSVP so we know you're coming]  Event 

Details: 

- We'll start with a brief safety orientation and basic instructions for beginners.

- Explore the stunning Mountain Island Lake while enjoying the tranquility of the water.  

What to Bring: 

- Sunscreen and hat 

- Comfortable clothes that can get wet 

- Water shoes or sandals 

- A change of clothes (just in case) 

- Water bottle and snacks  

Meetup Logistics: 

- We will gather at the designated meeting point at Latta Nature Preserve Gar Creek Kayak Access. [access point is located just past the Carolina Raptor Center next left] 

- If you are renting equipment, please arrive a bit early to complete the rental process. Check-in begins at 5:30 pm, we will launch at 6 pm.

RSVP: Please RSVP by Friday, August 11th so we can make appropriate arrangements for equipment rentals.
